The first few months with a newborn is like being in a cocoon, as you both adapt to the new world. It can feel very isolating. Kudos to the new moms who are going through this during a pandemic.

I encourage folks to bring their dogs to their family photo sessions. Yes, incorporating pets into a photo session generally does add a layer of chaos - as I wrangle both kids and animals at once. However, pets are a part of your family and they should be a part of your family photos. Folks are staying local these days. Instead of far away vacations, they are gathering with family at Airbnbs this summer. They are hiring me to mark the occasion with photos. I love these extended family sessions. Although I take a variety of photos - many with them all interacting, I realize it is this type of standard “shot” with everyone close and looking at the camera that ends up on the mantle. I am honored to supply it. I love these generational portraits and how families cherish them.
